Chris Prater

Chris serves as the pastor of First Baptist Church in Hays, where he is dedicated to supporting individuals and families through spiritual leadership, compassion, and community outreach. His role as a pastor reflects a deep commitment to caring for others, both within the church and throughout the wider community.

Serving on the First Call for Help Board of Directors provides Chris with an additional opportunity to extend that care beyond the church walls and to support individuals during times of need. He values the organization’s mission and is committed to contributing to efforts that strengthen and uplift the Hays community.

Chris is married to his wife, Stephanie, and together they have four children: Micheala, Allison, Nikolas, and Emily. He is also a proud papa to three grandchildren—Elijah, Eleanor, and Greyson—who bring great joy to his life.
