The Team

Macey Pfeifer

Executive Director

Hi! My name is Macey Pfeifer. I was born and raised here in Hays. I graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership. I have a long history of volunteering and being involved with community driven events! Helping others be better versions of themselves is a strong passion of mine. One of my favorite quotes is, “Growth is actually contagious, so if you want to reach your goals, you’ve got to get around people who are going in the same direction you want to be going, and you will catch the success.” —Dr. Henry Cloud. I look forward to serving the community of Hays! Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Laura Shoaff

Client Service Specialist

For the past 8 years I have loved working as the Project Coordinator & Office Assistant. As a previous teacher, Backpacks For Kids has been a favorite project of mine. Seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces as they choose their favorite backpack and the numerous families we have served! I hope to always have a small part in this program whether it be filling backpacks or helping on distribution days. The Meals On Wheels folks will always remain near & dear to my heart. I have met many customers who have received meals through the years, coordinated numerous volunteers & of course am grateful for the hospital staff who prepare the meals everyday of the year! I am excited for this new journey in my life, a fulfilling career as the Client Service Specialist. I look forward to helping people in their time of need; continuing to support our First Step Housing residents & providing resources for those we are unable to serve.

Adrian Broman

Project Coordinator

My name is Adrian Broman and I am currently studying at Fort Hays State University. I obtained an Associate in General Studies in May 2023, but I am still studying to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. I am originally from Russell, but I have lived in Hays for almost 4 years now. In my free time, I like to write and produce music, read Wikipedia, watch movies, work on computers, and I am a big supporter of local music! I am very passionate about helping those in need, engaging with our community, and leaving things better than I found them. I am very excited to be working at First Call for Help!

Yourself

The Community

Our community (you reading this!) plays an essential role in supporting us and other non-profit organizations and our causes. It is through the kindness and generosity of individuals within the community that we can continue to make a positive impact on society.

Whether it's through volunteering, making donations, or simply spreading awareness about our mission and the community assistance we provide, every effort counts and is greatly appreciated. These contributions help us reach our goals and fulfill our mission, which ultimately benefits the community as a whole.

The compassion and willingness to help from community members are what make us successful in our endeavors. It is heartwarming to see how much the people of Ellis County care about their community.

Due to your continued support and generosity we are able to continue being a trusted community resource.
