EDUCATION AND PREVENTION

First Call for Help wants to invite you to join a program that will help you become self-sufficient.  Read on to learn more about this program and what it has to offer you and your family.

What is Education and Prevention?

  • Professional staff will work with you on a one-on-one basis to provide support in assisting you and your family in making positive changes in your lives.
  • Provides opportunities to meet new friends and work together through problem areas.
  • Educational seminars are provided by professional community members.
  • Weekly meetings are held between participants and their information and referral specialists.
  • Assistance is provided in setting and reaching self-set goals.
  • Budgeting assistance is provided.
  • Information and referrals are provided to services in our community that may be beneficial to help increase success.

The goals of Education and Prevention are:

Enable: give you and your family the ability to become self-sufficient
Educate: give you options to help improve your life
Enable: help you establish healthy relationships
Establish: a long-term support system
Empower: you with the ability to problem solve
Educate: you on ways to reach self-directed goals
Enable: you to become successful
Equip: you and your family to move out of poverty

Welcome to First Call For Help of Ellis County, Inc.
First Call For Help seeks to enhance peoples' lives by providing information and referral, connecting individuals to needed resources, and by participating in community efforts that bring people and services together. 

We play a unique role throughout Ellis County by providing a central access point for people to obtain complete and current information on over 1,500 community and human service programs.  A professional information & referral specialist who is supportive and non-judgmental is available to offer a listening ear, help you sort out alternatives for dealing with life situations and provide you with information and appropriate referrals.  Just call (785) 623-2800 for an appointment.
